AmesburyTenantsUnion
Renters in Amesbury are organizing. When tenants stand together, we have power — over rent increases, repairs, unsafe conditions, and the future of our homes and neighborhoods.
Renters Organizing
for Each Other
A tenants union is a collective of renters who organize together to protect their housing rights, support one another through disputes and crises, and build long-term community power. We are not a government agency, a legal aid service, or a landlord association — we are neighbors, taking care of each other.
“Our timing is reactionary. Our methodology is not.”
In Amesbury, renters face rising costs, limited affordable housing, and few organized spaces to share information or take collective action. The Amesbury Tenants Union exists to change that — starting with showing up, listening, and building together.
We are part of the Essex County Tenants Network, connecting Amesbury renters with a broader regional movement including the Salem Tenants Union.
What a Union Does
Know Your Rights
We share information about Massachusetts tenant law — what landlords can and cannot do, how eviction processes work, and what protections exist for you.
Mutual Support
Facing a repair issue, rent increase, or landlord harassment? You don’t have to navigate it alone. Members show up for each other with advice, accompaniment, and solidarity.
Collective Action
Individual complaints are easy to ignore. Organized tenants are not. We build the relationships and coordination that make collective action possible.
Community Power
We engage with housing policy, local government, and community planning to ensure renters have a voice in the future of Amesbury.
We Need You.
The Amesbury Tenants Union is just getting started, and we’re actively looking for renters, organizers, and supporters who want to help build something lasting. No experience required — just a willingness to show up.
